City’s First Beach Volleyball Facility Coming to Long Island City

The city’s first indoor beach volleyball facility is set to open in Long Island City.

TerraCRG announced it has arranged a long-term commercial lease with entrepreneur Leon Dubov to open QBK Sports at 41-20 39th Street.

The 19,000 s/f space will be transformed into an indoor beach volleyball facility featuring three professional sand courts and a lounge area, complete with a full bar and restaurant. QBK Sports will offer leagues, clinics, and programming for players of all skills and age levels.

“Beach volleyball is one of the fastest-growing college sports in America and holds appeal for people of all ages,” said Dubov. “Especially after the past year-and-a-half of social distancing, we believe New Yorkers are craving outlets for community and recreation. QBK Sports will bring a unique year-round amenity for all to enjoy – from beginners to the most-seasoned beach volleyball players.”

Situated in a ground floor warehouse space with 22-foot ceilings just a few blocks away from several subway stations, the new location will enable beach volleyball players to enjoy the sport all year-round, instead of being limited to outdoor courts in the warmer months. QBK Sports is targeting an opening date by the end of the year.

“The greatest part of our job is helping entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life,” said Peter Schubert, Managing Director of Commercial Leasing at TerraCRG, who exclusively represented the tenant in the transaction. “We are thrilled to have found this location to help Leon bring this exciting concept to New York City.”

The landlord for the space was represented by Greiner-Maltz Real Estate.
